National Robotics Week @ Discovery World

Kevin Kolodziej- Automation Educator, Discovery World

"Good morning everyone,

THANK YOU! Your participation in the first ever National Robotics Week celebration at Discovery World was a huge success and the event would not have been possible without your dedication. In all we had nearly 6300 people visit Discovery World during the week and the vast majority spent some time checking out your robots and products. Many people were asking at the front desk where the robots could be found as they purchased their tickets. Visitors were thrilled to see FLL, FTC, and FRC robots, get to operate FTC and Vex robots, to see the really neat innovations, inventions, and programs being offered by Meeper Technologies, Marquette’s Humanoid Engineering & Intelligent Robotics Lab, and Bricks4Kidz, and to meet Rockwell Automation Engineers. This event was made possible by Rockwell Automation who has been one of Discovery World’s largest and longest partners and is currently helping us to renew our automation and robotics based classes and exhibits. We are very excited about what is on the horizon and National Robotics Week was just the first step in creating new interest and appreciation for robotics and automation in Milwaukee’s youth.

National Robotics Week received a lot of press coverage:

Fox6 http://fox6now.com/2015/04/07/discovery-world-celebrates-national-robotics-week-students-are-engaged-in-problem-solving/

Business Journal: http://www.bizjournals.com/milwaukee/news/2015/04/04/discovery-world-hosts-robotics-week.html

WTMJ620 and 88.9 Radio Milwaukee also conducted interviews to be broadcast as part of community stories.

Much of the community is still unaware of the amazing things YOU are doing with robotics and automation – this event was a big way to introduce new students and families to your programs and products and we hope it was as successful an event for you as it was for us. The leadership here at Discovery World was very impressed with your creations and the professionalism the STUDENTS displayed when talking with guests and visitors. We can’t wait for the next opportunity to work with you all again!

I will be putting together a photo gallery from the week very shortly and will share that with everyone once it is online.
